Sindh suspends cellular services to protect Muharram processions

KARACHI -- Sindh Province suspended cell phone service for 12 hours in eight districts Friday (September 29) to protect Muharram processions and gatherings, Dawn reported.

The measure is meant to prevent remote activation of bombs and to hinder communication among terrorists.

Suspension of 16 hours of cellular service will occur on Saturday and Sunday (September 30 and October 1) each, the 9th and 10th Muharram, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
