Multiple groups involved in Karachi slayings, officials say

Pakistan Forward

KARACHI -- Multiple militant groups could be involved in recent targeted killings of police and retired police in Karachi, Dawn reported Sunday (August 6), quoting the opinion of the Sindh Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

Recent such slayings have all differed in modus operandi, said the CTD, adding that splinter groups of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or Lashkar-e-Jhangvi could be part of the problem.

One new extremist group, Ansar al-Sharia, has educated and media-savvy members, said the CTD.
