2 kidnapped Pakistani diplomats, Balochistan official recovered

ISLAMABAD -- Afghan forces rescued two kidnapped Pakistani diplomats, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday (July 26), according to media, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) reported.

The diplomats disappeared while travelling from Jalalabad to Torkham on June 16 but Afghan forces rescued them in an operation, according to RFE/RL.

The Afghans handed over the two Jalalabad-based diplomats to their embassy in Kabul, said the Pakistani Foreign Ministry.

Meanwhile, Balochistan's higher education secretary, Abdullah Jan, who was kidnapped March 15, returned to his Quetta home Wednesday, Dawn reported. The circumstances of his freeing were not reported. No group ever claimed responsibility for his abduction.
