Death toll of Bahawalpur oil tanker fire reaches 157

BAHAWALPUR -- The death toll of Sunday's (June 25) oil tanker explosion in Bahwalpur District, Punjab Province, reached 157, Dawn reported Monday (June 26).

A Lahore-bound truck carrying 40,000 litres of fuel overturned in the district early Sunday. Local residents gathered to collect leaking petrol when a fire broke out, said regional police chief Raja Riffat, according to SAMAA.

Dr. Nahid Ahmed at Nishter Hospital confirmed the death toll of 157.

Some critically wounded patients might die, adding to the toll, warned officials.
