Courts acquits 2 accused of 2009 attack on Sri Lankan team

LAHORE -- A Lahore anti-terrorism court Wednesday (June 21) acquitted two defendants accused of involvement in the March 2009 terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, reported SAMAA.

The two men, Obaidullah and Ibrahim Khalil, had faced charges of facilitating the attack on the team's bus, which injured 20 people, including seven Sri Lankan players, and left seven Pakistanis dead.

Some of the six men whom Pakistani authorities indicted in connection with the case were killed in a shootout with police.
