Army destroys ISIS facility in Mastung

Staff Report

RAWALPINDI -- The Pakistani army destroyed a facility belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in Mastung District, Balochistan, in a three-day-long operation earlier in June, SAMAA reported Thursday (June 8).

Troops fighting in Mastung District June 1-3 killed at least 12 ISIS members, including two would-be suicide bombers, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a detailed statement.

The dead militants sought to establish an ISIS foothold in Balochistan, said ISPR, adding that the suicide bomber who attacked Senate Deputy Chairman Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri's convoy May 12 in Mastung city came from the area. The bombing killed more than two dozen Pakistanis. Haidri was injured.

The troops destroyed a bomb factory and seized a cache of weapons and explosives, said ISPR.
