Pakistani violence kills 4 peace volunteers, police officer

PESHAWAR -- Four peace volunteers and a police officer were killed during separate incidents of violence in Pakistan.

The peace committee members were targeted late Monday (May 29) night in the Matani area on the outskirts of Peshawar, Geo News reported.

In another incident of violence, unknown assailants fatally shot a deputy superintedent of police and wounded his nephew, a police inspector, in Quetta Monday, according to Dawn.

Meanwhile, a roadside bomb in Pakistani-held Kashmir Monday wounded at least four Pakistanis, SAMAA reported Monday.

The incident took place near the Chakothi sector on the Line of Control in Muzaffarabad when a passenger van stuck a planted bomb, said security sources.
