Mardan police arrest 15 suspects in Mashal Khan lynching case

MARDAN -- Police arrested at least 15 suspects connected to the April 13 mob killing of Abdul Wali Khan University student Mashal Khan , media reported.

Seven suspects were presented in court Sunday (April 16), Geo News reported, while police earlier arrested eight additional suspects.

There is no evidence to suggest Mashal Khan committed blasphemy, Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salahuddin Khan Mehsud told journalists Monday (April 17), Express Tribute reported.

KP chief minister Perviz Khattak has ordered a judicial inquiry into the killing.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday instructed the KP inspector general of police to submit a report on the incident with 36 hours, Dawn reported.

The university has been shut down since the incident.
