Missing medical student held after Lahore raid

LAHORE -- A woman held following a security operation in Lahore was identified as Naureen Leghari, the missing medical student from Haiderabad, Dawn reported Sunday (April 16).

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police conducted an operation in the Punjab Housing Society of Lahore on April 14 and killed suspected terrorist Ali Tariq, a CTD spokesman said.

During the operation, a female was detained and later identified as Naureen Leghari, a student of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro, Sindh, the CTD sources said.

Naureen had been missing since February of this year and had allegedly joined "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL).
