Qaumi Watan leader gunned down in Charsadda

CHARSADDA, Pakistan -- Gunmen killed a lawyer and wounded his nephew in Charsadda District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Saturday (March 4), Dawn reported.

Mohammad Jan Gigyani, who was also a leader of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), was en route with his nephew Advocate Raham Shah and two other lawyers to Shabqadar Tehsil courts when motorcyclists opened fire on their car, said police.

Gigyani died in the hospital. The other two lawyers escaped injury.

QWP leader Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and other politicians and lawyers condemned the killing, media reported.

Jamatul Ahrar, a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) splinter group, claimed responsibility.
