Security forces kill alleged mastermind of Lahore blast

ISLAMABAD -- Security forces killed at least 10 militants, including the alleged mastermind of the February 13 Lahore suicide bombing , media reported.

Wajihullah and Hikmat, alias Ahrar and Qari Zubair respectively, both affiliated with Jamatul Ahrar, were killed in the Pakistani-Afghan border zone, said a security source Thursday (February 23), according to Dawn.

Hikmat commanded a terrorist transit camp in Afghanistan, while Wajihullah helped orchestrate the Lahore bombing that took at least 15 lives, the source said.

Two "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) militants also were killed in a shoot-out in Karachi, Karachi West Senior Superintendent of Police Nasir Aftab said Thursday (February 23), according to Dawn.

The militants were involved in killing Deputy Superintendent of Police Faiz Ali Shigri in Karachi last year, he said.

Meanwhile, Counter-Terrorism Force troops killed six Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists in Muzaffargarh District, Punjab, Thursday (February 23), Geo News reported, adding that four other suspects escaped.
