Lahore court seeks government justification in Hafiz Saeed case

Staff Report

LAHORE -- The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday (February 22) asked the Punjab government to justify the continued detention of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed and his four aides , the Express Tribune reported.

The five detainees had challenged their detention and the authorities' placement of themselves and 32 other JuD leaders on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Individuals on the ECL are banned from travelling abroad.

The LHC ordered the Punjab Home Department to answer by March 7.

The Punjab government imposed 90 days of house arrest on the five JuD detainees in January.
