Pakistan honours slain bomb squad member

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD -- Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Tuesday (February 21) announced a post-humous medal for Abdul Razzaq, a slain Quetta Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) member, Dawn reported.

Razzaq was killed by a bomb that he was trying to defuse February 13 .

Besides the medal, his family will receive compensation, said Nisar.

"Money or medals cannot repay a life lost in the name of the country, but it is up to the nation to honour its brave sons," he said.

Razzaq defused more than 1,000 bombs since joining the force in 1995, according to the BDS.
