Pakistan summons Afghan diplomat over Lahore blast

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan summoned a top Afghan diplomat and conveyed its concern over militant sanctuaries in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan in a statement said, Khaama Press reported Wednesday (February 15).

The Afghan deputy head of mission Syed Abdul Nasir Yousafi was called-in to the Foreign Office over a February 13 suicide attack in Lahore that killed at least 14 people and claimed by Jumaat-ul-Ahrar (JA).

The Afghan diplomat was told that JA has its sanctuaries inside Afghanistan and uses Afghan soil for attacks in Pakistan, the foreign ministry statement said.

"Afghanistan was urged to take urgent measures to eliminate the terrorists and their sanctuaries, financiers and handlers operating from its territory," the statement added.
