Pakistani forces kill 11 terrorism suspects in Punjab, Mohmand

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD -- Security forces killed at least 11 suspected terrorists and their facilitators in separate operations in Mohmand Agency and Punjab on Wednesday and Thursday (February 15-16), Geo News reported.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Punjab claimed to have eliminated six alleged terrorists from the banned group Jamatul Ahrar during an encounter that took place in Khanewal District on Thursday (February 16) morning, officials said.

Four other accomplices of the slain suspects managed to escape, a CTD spokesman said, adding that a large cache of weapons, including grenades, guns and detonators were also recovered during the operation.

A day earlier, Frontier Corps (FC) gunned down five alleged facilitators during an operation in Sheikh Banda, a suburban area of Ghalanai town in Mohmand Agency, FC said.

The operation was conducted after a suicide attack on Agency Headquarters that killed five people including three security personnel earlier in the day, according to the FC.
