SKARDU, Pakistan -- Fourteen families moved themselves to safety from a possible glacial shift in Shigar District, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Geo News reported Wednesday (February 8).
The glacier has begun gliding toward Arandu village, a GB Legislative Assembly member, Imran Nadeem, said.
A rescue team is relocating families in the endangered area, Baltistan Division Commissioner Asim Ayub said.
Record-breaking snowfall in February also triggered an avalanche.
