Pakistan hands over 4 ISIL militants to Afghanistan

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan handed over four captured militants of the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL) to the Afghan government, TOLO News reported Wednesday (February 8).

The Afghan nationals were wounded in fighting with Afghan troops and sought medical treatment in Peshawar, where Pakistani authorities arrested them, Landi Kotal Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad told reporters.

The transfer of the militants to Afghan authorities at the Torkham border crossing was a "gesture of goodwill", Niaz said.
