Pakistani forces kill 3 militants, arrest 81 suspects

QUETTA -- Over the past few days Pakistani forces killed three militants and detained 84 suspects, while 24 other militants surrendered in Balochistan Province.

Troops killed the three militants in operations in various part of Balochistan Friday and Sunday (January 20 and 22), officials said.

The troops destroyed eight militant hideouts and seized arms and ammunition, Dawn reported.

Security forces conducting raids in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan nabbed at least 81 suspected militants in a week, Dawn reported Saturday (January 21).

The suspects are accused of affiliation with the Baloch Republican Army (BRA) and Balochistan Liberation Army, Dawn reported.

Twenty-four BRA militants, including three commanders, surrendered Saturday (January 21) in Dera Bugti District, The Express Tribune reported.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Home Department put 396 people under surveillance because of suspected ties to banned groups, Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said Saturday (January 21), according to Dawn.
