Violence leaves police officers dead across Pakistan

KARACHI -- At least five Pakistanis were gunned down in separate incidents nationwide.

Gunmen on Wednesday (January 4) in Karachi assassinated Police Sub-Inspector Iqbal Mehmood, Dawn reported.

Mehmood was investigating targeted killings and apparently fell victim to a targeted killing himself, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Fahad Ahmed.

Also on Wednesday in other parts of Karachi gumen killed a police informer and another man, Dawn and Geo News reported.

Jamshed Town SP Tahir Noorani termed the third slaying a targeted killing.

A double targeted killing in Quetta left police officer Habibullah and provincial education department employee Waheed Khan dead, Dunya TV reported Wednesday (January 4).
