ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's army has a new chief.
Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa soon will become chief of Army Staff, while Gen. Zubair Mehmood Hayat will become chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported November 26.
Bajwa replaces Gen. Raheel Sharif, while Zubair succeeds Gen. Rashid Mehmood. The ceremony for both new commanders is scheduled for November 29 in Rawalpindi.
President Mamnoon Hussain approved Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's promotion of Bajwa and Zubair, Nawaz Sharif's office said.
