Pakistani policeman killed; 5 suspected terrorists nabbed

PESHAWAR -- A Pakistani police officer was killed in Swabi District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), August 15, while police detained five suspected terrorists in Peshawar and Karachi.

Motorcyclists gunned down Additional Station House Officer Saeedul Ibrar in Swabi District, Dawn reported.

Meanwhile, the KP Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) August 16 in Peshawar detained a suspected member of the banned Jamatul Ahrar organisation, Dunya News reported.

The suspect was carrying a 2kg bomb and had received training for a suicide attack, police said. Police nabbed him near the local Radio Pakistan building.

Separately, the Sindh Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) August 16 in Karachi detained four suspected terrorists, SIU Senior Superintendent of Police Farooq Awan said, according to Dunya News.
