Pakistani helicopter crew freed in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD -- The six crew members of a Pakistani helicopter that crash-landed in Afghanistan August 4 reached Islamabad safely August 13, media reported.

The Punjab government helicopter was flying to Uzbekistan for maintenance when it crash-landed in Logar Province. Militants abducted the crew, which included one foreign national, Geo News reported.

Pakistani and Afghan tribal elders negotiated the crew's release, a Pakistani Foreign Office statement confirmed.
